Committees/Descriptions

 

1. HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

• Sends out birthday/anniversary cards/sympathy cards/holiday cards to African-American faculty and staff at WSU 
• Hosts meetings and events for new African-American faculty and staff at WSU
• Welcomes new African-American faculty and staff to WSU campus
• Develops welcome materials/packets for new African-American faculty and staff at WSU

2. MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

• Recruit WSU African-American employees to join AAFSA
• Intake of AAFSA applications
• May work with AAFSA Treasurer for the collection of dues

3. FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

• Develops fundraising activities for African-American faculty and staff
• Fundraise for scholarship opportunities for WSU African-American students and employees seeking
   first Bachelor’s Degree (Scholarship – Book vouchers)

4. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

• Develops, plans and coordinates social events for WSU African-American students
• Develops, plans and coordinates social events for AAFSA members

5. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

• Plans Brown Bag Lecture events
• Plans weekend professional development workshops/events

6. MEDIA/PUBLICATIONS:

• Assist with AAFSA Newsletter Publication
• Carryout assigned tasks in notifying the media of AAFSA events
• Create and distribute flyers of AAFSA events
• Assist with website updates

7. STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

• Promote scholarship programming and career development for WSU African-American students
• Develop scholarship criteria for AAFSA Scholarship award
• Attend the African-American Student Association Meetings
• Develops scholarship book voucher guidelines and deadlines for WSU African-American students
