Student Position Description

The Center for Entrepreneurship is looking to fill a position assisting the Coordinator of Operations and Student Services. This position plays a large role in the orchestration of many Center events. The assistant is responsible for providing organizational and operational support in the development and execution of events such as the Forum Series and Shocker New Venture Competition. This individual will be working with WSU Faculty, Staff, Community Business Leaders, students and support prospects.


Shocker New Venture Competition

  •  Assist in the creation, promotion and distribution of marketing materials
  • Work to identify the best marketing strategy to reach target constituents
  • Update website with current and accurate information
  • Execute logistics associated with each rounds of the competition (i.e. Trade Show, Finals, Intent to Compete, etc.)
  • Create a visual for the display case on first floor of Devlin Hall
  • Attend Trade Show, Finals and Award Ceremony

Forum Series

  • Assist in the execution of Forum Series and reception
  • Greet guests, host reception, etc.
  • Complete all preparation work needed to host a successful event
  • There are three Forum Series scheduled this spring which occur on Thursday’s at 3:30 p.m.
  • It is mandatory to attend each Forum series

Website Maintenance

  • Update the website as needed for the different programs offered by the Center
  • Formal training will be provided by University Relations
  • Faculty & Staff Support / General Office duties
  • Copy, File, pick up supplies, maintain paper stock in copier and printers
  • Perform data entry
  • Sort deliver recycled office materials to recycle bins
  • Answering phones and customer service

Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and communication skills, highly organized with the ability to meet multiple concurrent deadlines, be able to provide outstanding customer service and remain professional at all times, must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask, must be able to think and respond quickly to offer solutions to problems in an efficient manner, strong computer skills, including but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
