Where are WSU PT students from? The majority of WSU PT students are from Kansas; however, there are students in the program from other states, e.g. Oklahoma, South Dakota, Nebraska, California.

What are educational backgrounds of WSU PT students? Traditional students, those who enter the program immediately after acquiring a Bachelor's Degree, have a broad variety of majors depending on each student's area of interest, e.g. Biology, Math, Psychology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training. Students who are entering a career change represent about 1/3 of the class. Students in the program are changing careers from electrical engineering, primary and secondary teachers, research, safety inspectors, coaching, and athletic training.

Why do PT students at WSU choose physical therapy as a career? Each student in the program shares common interests of "liking to work with people" and "wanting to help people improve their health status". Our students have generally had a personal or family experience with physical therapy. Some students received physical therapy after a sports injury or other medical condition while other students saw the outcomes when a grandparent, parent, or sibling had received physical therapy.

What is life of a PT student at WSU? Strong friendship bonds are developed during the first semester in the program. Students enjoy their comradship through intramural sports, karioke, movies, picnics, and studying together. Students have many leadership opportunities through class activities, CHP, and WSU student government.

What are some teaching/learning methods? Class interaction is often used by faculty to help students understand concepts.
