Transition to Teaching Program Coursework

The following list is the sequence of required professional education coursework and examinations in T2T once a candidate is deemed eligible by meeting program entrance requirements.


PREPARATION

Before summer
Pass the Praxis II Content Area Assessment and the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST).


YEAR ONE

First summer (8 hours)
CI 760A - Creating an Effective Classroom (2 hours)
CI 702 - Introduction to Exceptional Children (3 hours)
CESP 728 - Theories of Growth and Development (3 hours)

First fall (3 hours)
CI 743 - Internship 1 (1 hour)
CI 761A - Instructional Planning (2 hours)

First spring (3 hours)
CI 744 - Internship 2 (1 hour)
CI 769 - Instructional Strategies, Technology, and Assessment (2 hours)


YEAR TWO

Second summer (7 hours)
CI 711 - Multicultural Education (3 hours)
CI 701 - Foundations of Education (2 hours)
CI 845 - Curriculum Models (2 hours)

Second fall (5 hours)
CI 748 - Internship 3 (1 hour)
CI 848 - Analysis and Reflection (2 hours)
CI 615 - Learning and Reading Strategies (2 hours)

Second spring (6 hours)
CI 749 - Internship 4 (1 hour)
CI 849 - Practices and Trends in Action Research (2 hours)
CLES - 801 Introduction to Education Research (3 hours; for MAT students only)
Pass the Principles of Learning and Teaching Test (PLT).
Receive passing scores on the Kansas Performance Teaching Portfolio (KPTP).

Transition to Teaching Licensure Program completed (29 hours).  MAT candidates continue to year three.


YEAR THREE

Third summer (for MAT students only)
CI 860 - Seminar in Research Problems (2 hours)

Third fall (for MAT students only)
CI 862 - Professional Portfolio Development (1 hour)

Third spring (for MAT students only)
CI 863 - Presentation of Professional Portfolio (1 hour)

Master of Arts in Teaching Program completed (36 hours)
