Wichita State's sport management degree provides students with a quality curriculum including courses such as sport marketing, sport law, sport governance, and sport facility management. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management degree complete and extensive internship requirement. Graduates of this program work in a variety of sport settings including intercollegiate athletics, major league and minor league professional sports, fitness, recreation, and specialized sport business.
WSU's Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management has received specialized accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) located in Reston, Virginia.
Most students complete the undergraduate degree in four or five years. While in the program, students complete an extensive internship requirement working in one of a variety of sport settings including intercollegiate sports, minor and major league professional sports, park and recreation departments, and in the health club/fitness industry. There is currently only one sport management class offered online -- SMGT 711 Structuring and Scheduling Sport Tournaments. However, most instructors in the program utilize Internet and other technologies to enhance student learning environments. These instructors have placed syllabi, notes, Powerpoint presentations, grade information, and other class materials on Blackboard for student use.
The undergraduate degree in sport administration requires a minimum of 124 total hours of coursework for graduation. A GPA of 2.50 is required in the major, WSU courses and cumulative.
