Cooperative Education & Work-Based Learning

Parallel & Alternating Placements

Parallel Placements are the most common type of co-op. Student go to school and work at the same time.

Alternating Placements allow student to travel to another city, state or county and work full-time as a cooperative education student, enrolling only in the cooperative education credit.

Parallel Requirements
1. WSU degree-bound student
2. Working at least 15 hours per week in a Cooperative Education position
3. Enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours at WSU

Alternating Requirements
1. WSU degree-bound student
2. Enrolled in only the co-op course
(Most alternating positions are full-time and are located outside of Wichita)
