Darren DeFrain received his BA and BS (as well as a minor in Italian) from the University of Utah. He received his MA from Kansas State University, his MFA from Texas State, and his Ph.D. from Western Michigan. He is the author of numerous award winning short stories, essays, poems, and screenplays, as well as the story collection Inside & Out and the novel The Salt Palace. Of DeFrain’s cult novel The Salt Palace, novelist John Dufresne said this: “With the publication of The Salt Palace, we welcome a brave new voice to American fiction. Darren DeFrain is one hell of a writer.
