Darren DeFrain

JPEG Image (250x350)Darren DeFrain received his BA and BS (as well as a minor in Italian) from the University of Utah. He received his MA from Kansas State University, his MFA from Texas State, and his Ph.D. from Western Michigan. He is the author of numerous award winning short stories, essays, poems, and screenplays, as well as the story collection Inside & Out and the novel The Salt Palace. Of DeFrain’s cult novel The Salt Palace, novelist John Dufresne said this: “With the publication of The Salt Palace, we welcome a brave new voice to American fiction. Darren DeFrain is one hell of a writer. The marvel of this gritty and propulsive first novel is that DeFrain, right out of the gates, has staked claim on a wild new territory of desperate love, alienation, heartbreak, and redemption.” DeFrain currently directs the Writing Program at Wichita State and is at work on his new novel The Romulus and Remus of Adams County, NE.
