The Kansas Sunshine Coalition for Open Government has received an $8,500 grant to fund a new video about Kansas open government laws and the importance of openness in a democratic society. The grant is funded by the Knight Foundation through the National Freedom of Information Coalition.

Elliott School alumna wins award from PRSA Kansas Chapter:

Elliott School of Communication alumna Amanda Eden has earned the Professional of the Year award from the kansas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Eden was honored for her outstanding leadership as president of the PRSA Kansas Chapter and her professional accomplishments as public relations account executive at Wichita branding agency Greteman Group.
Eden received her award at the PRSA Kansas Chapter's Clarus Awards ceremony Sept. 15 at the Wichita Art Museum. The award, given during the chapter's annual banquet honoring outstanding local public relations work, is presented to the PRSA Kansas Chapter member who best represents the chapter and the PR profession. PRSA mambers nominate peers for the award, and the organization's board selects the winner.
Sharon Iorio wins award:

Elliott School of Communication Professor and Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Sharon Iorio, has won the first place award for an edited book by the National Federation of Press Women. Her book, Qualitative Research in Journalism: Taking it to the Streets (2004) is published by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates.
