Gateway to Engineering is a project based, hands-on camp that will introduce campers to the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering and math in a fun and exciting way. They will use leading-edge technologies to sample such disciplines as: robotics, aeronautics, rockets, eco-design, manufacturing, and alternative energy.

Carey Eskridge Lybarger is a Project Lead the Way Engineering Instructor in her 15th year of teaching. She teaches pre-engineering and mathematics at Winfield High School in Winfield, Kansas, she is an Online Mathematics Instructor for Wichita Area Technical College, and she has been a Wichita State Engineering Summer Camp Director for the past two years. Carey is also a middle school and high school coach. She is the Winfield Middle School Head Track and Field Coach, the Winfield High School Electric Blue Danceline Coach, and the Winfield High School Assistant Cross Country Coach. Carey’s honors include: Member of the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network, Oxford Jr/Sr High Teacher of the Year, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers for four years, Kansas Mathematics Curriculum Specialist for NAEP national conferences, nominated for the Presidential Mathematics and Science Award, and nominated for the KASCD Outstanding Curriculum Leader Award. Carey received a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematical Theory and Physics from Southwestern College in 1996 and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University in 2001.
