With a total of $15,000 in cash being awarded to the top three teams whose new venture ideas have the greatest potential for growth, the competition consists of three rounds: screening, semi-final and final. The winning team receives professional one-on-one consultations in banking, legal and accounting professionals, as well as a one-year membership to the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce and a one-time payment of $10,000. The competition culminates with a banquet and awards ceremony honoring the competitors, their faculty advisers and the judges.The Shocker Business Plan Competition is a state-wide student business plan competition hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurship. The competition is designed to encourage student innovation and venture creation by providing a forum where students can present new business ideas of local business community leaders, including entrepreneurs and investors.
The competition is open to all part-time and full-time students currently enrolled at any four-year college or university in Kansas. Students may work individually or in teams of up to five eligible students. Submissions must be the original work and ideas of the team.
