How the application process works:
Wichita State Transfer Scholarships
Wichita State awards Kansas community college transfer students scholarships that range from $1,000 to $4,000, depending on the quality of the scholarship essay and activities chart submitted. Preference is given to applicants who have a minimum 3.00 transfer GPA and 70 or fewer cumulative college credit hours. These scholarships are non-renewable. (You must apply for this scholarship to be considered for any of the additional scholarships listed below.)
Sedgwick County Scholarship
Students who graduated from a Sedgwick County high school or who are current Sedgwick County residents are eligible for these scholarships. Scholarship amounts are $1,000 per semester (for students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours) or $500 per semester (for students enrolled in six to 11 credit hours). Eligible applicants must have a minimum 3.00 GPA and 70 or fewer cumulative college credit hours. This award can be renewed for a s academic year provided the student maintains a minimum 3.00 WSU and cumulative GPA.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship
Recipients of this scholarship will receive a non-renewable $1,000 award. Applicants must have accumulated at least 24 credit hours and a minimum 3.75 GPA to be considered. Applicants must also list PTK activities in the online scholarship application. Active membership will be confirmed through contact to your PTK adviser. A limited number of scholarships are available, so apply early.
Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) Transfer Scholarship
Recipients of this scholarship will receive a non-renewable $1,000 award. Applicants must have accumulated at least 24 credit hours and a minimum 3.00 GPA to be considered. Applicants must also list HALO activities in the online scholarship application. Active participation will be confirmed through contact with your HALO advisor. A limited number of scholarships are available, so apply early.
Reminder: WSU will only accept online scholarship applications. To view the application, and an explanation of what is expected on the scholarship essay and activities chart. Scholarship materials are reviewed in the order they are received. WSU will not consider your application until you are fully admitted and all scholarship paperwork is received.
The priority deadline for transfer scholarships is February 1. Scholarship notification will begin in March. Students may be eligible for multiple scholarship awards. Awards are made on a funds available basis. Scholarship applications will not be accepted after April 1. Apply early because funding is limited.
