Piano Program

The institute offers piano classes for both children and adults. Beginning piano students ages 7-10 have two course options: a weekly group class plus individual lessons, or a course consisting of weekly individual lessons. Courses for all other piano students are comprised solely of weekly individual lessons. The piano curriculum prepares students for the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA) Music Progressions Auditions (www.ksmta.org/musicprogressions.php). At the end of the session, students present a program for family and friends.

Beginning Piano Class (children ages 7-10)
Children learn music fundamentals through fun activities during the class lesson each week. Piano pedagogy majors teach an individual lesson each week that reinforces class lessons and helps students develop practice habits. The piano curriculum prepares students for the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA) Music Progressions Auditions. At the end of the session, students present a program for family and friends.

Course Length: September 14 - December 12 (no classes October 15-17 and November 25-28)
Time: A one-hour class and a 30-minute lesson once a week, time and date to be arranged with the instructor
Fee: $270 payable by September 1 OR $140 by September 1 and $140 by November 1

Piano Lessons (children through adult
Individual lessons stress a comprehensive music curriculum which includes skill development in note reading, improvisation, keyboard theory, and repertoire. Lessons prepare students for the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA) Music Progressions Auditions. At the end of the session, students present a program for family and friends.
