String Orchestra Program


Preparatory String Orchestra

An introduction to ensemble playing for string players of two or more years of experience or recommendation of private teacher. Emphasis will be on preparation for playing in a large ensemble, learning to follow a conductor and maintain continuity in playing. Basic fundamentals of groups string playing will be introduced to prepare players for more advanced performance in the College of Fine Arts Institute Intermediate String Orchestra.

Course Length: September 12-December 12
No class on October 17 and November 28
Time: Saturdays, 10-10:50 a.m.
Location: C-9 Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Wichita State University
Fee: $90 payable by September 1 OR $50 payable by September 1 and $50 by November 1
Orientation: 10 a.m., Saturday, September 12 (bring instrument and music stand)

Intermediate String Orchestra

A conducted ensemble experience for violin, viola, cello, and double bass players with three or more years of experience. Emphasis is on developing skills necessary for entrance into the Youth Symphony program, school orchestras, or a renewal of skills for adults.

Course Length: September 12-December 12
No class on October 17 and November 28
Time: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-noon
Location: C-9 Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Wichita State University
Fee: $90 payable by September 1 OR $50 payable by September 1 and $50 by November 1
Orientation: 11 a.m., Saturday, September 12 (bring instrument and music stand)
