Rodney E. Miller, Ph.D. Dr. Rodney Miller is in his ninth year as Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University. He came to WSU from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he served as Dean of the College of Fine Arts & Humanities for six years. Prior to that, he was the Director of Vocal Studies at New York University. Dr. Miller received his Ph.D. from Illinois State University, an MM from Indiana University and a BM from West Texas State University. His scholarly and creative endeavors run the gamut from professional operatic performances to quantitative research analysis. His specific scholarly interests include 20th Century American vocal music, both popular and classical, as well as administrative and sociological theory as it applies to American Higher Education. He is a veteran of the professional operatic stage, and his career has taken him throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. His repertoire of nearly fifty roles includes, among others, Mephistopheles, Figaro, and Emil deBeque. He has been on national broadcasts both in the United States and in Europe, and has recorded for labels on both continents, most notably Bach Cantatas 21, 31 and 80 under Helmuth Rilling. He began his professional career with Chautauqua Opera in New York as Don Basilio in Barber of Seville. Miller has long been an advocate of arts education. In this capacity he was integral in the creation and served as the founding president of the Nebraska Alliance for Arts Education. In this capacity he also served as a member of the National Alliance for Arts Education through the education wing of the Kennedy Center and Americans for the Arts. He has also collaborated on studies charting the economic, cultural and quality of life impact of the non-profit arts, and he has written extensively on the importance of the arts to the health and wealth of our society. He and his wife, Pina Mozzani, also a professional opera singer and vocal teacher, have two children following in their performing footsteps. Their daughter, Rachael, is a professional actress and their son, Matthew, is a playwright and the lighting and technical director for Hubbard Street Dance in Chicago.

Wendy Hanes WendyHanes serves as Assistant Dean of Fine Arts at Wichita State University. She taught ballet in the WSU School of Performing Arts/Dance program (1983 - 1992) and in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln dance program (1980 - 1983). Prior to that, she performed as a soloist with the Des Moines Ballet Company, where she also taught extensively and established a Dance in Public Schools Program. She earned her BFA in Ballet at the University of Utah, where she also did graduate work. In her current position, she oversees educational outreach activities for the College, including community partnerships and presenting of guest artist events.

Justin Rorabaugh Justin has been with the College of Fine Arts since fall of 2007. He received his MEd in Educational Psychology from Wichita State University and a BS in Education from Chadron State College. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Higher Education Administration and Leadership at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He previously served as the Director of Training and Youth Services for the Breakthrough Club of Sedgwick County where he worked with mentally-ill young adults. Justin started his career as a music teacher in Johnson, KS where he taught 7-12 band and chorus, was Director of the all-school musical, Head MS boys and girls track coach, and assistant football coach. |

Brenda Achey Brenda Achey began her service as accountant for the College of Fine Arts Dean's Office in September 2002. Ms. Achey began her tenure at WSU in 1984 as a clerk in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. In 1986, she transferred to the WSU Controller's Office. Ms. Achey earned her B.S. degree in accounting from WSU in 1996. Special interests include Art especially painting & drawing, reading and spending time with family.
