General Information and Audition Dates
Wichita State University's School of Performing Arts awards Dance, Musical Theatre and Theatre scholarships to students who qualify by audition. Additional scholarships are available for qualifying junior and senior performing arts majors.
Interested high school and community college students or transfer students should plan to visit the campus. While on campus, students may audition, meet performing arts faculty, visit dance and/or theatre classes, obtain financial advising and career counseling
At the end of each Academic Year the faculty considers all current majors for scholarships and reviews the eligibility of each student. Outstanding students are then selected to receive additional scholarships for the following year.
FALL: Saturday, November 7, 2009
TIME: 1:30pm
LOCATION: Heskett Center Dance Studios
Requirements for Dance: Applicants will participate in a dance auditions class, consisting of jazz, modern, and ballet components. Wear dance attire for this audition. No solo work required.
Applicants are encouraged to attend one or both of the Kansas Dance Festival classes being held prior to auditions.

MUSICAL THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS
FALL: November 11, 9:30-11:00, C-9, Duerkson FAC
November 21, 1:00-3:00
LOCATION: Duerkson Fine Arts Center Dance Studio, Room C9, WSU Campus
Requirements for Musical Theatre: Audition consists of a dance audition. Following will be a performance of two contrasting musical theatre songs (1 up-tempo or belt and 1 ballad) and one 2 minute contemporary monologue. Bring clothes that allow freedom of movement. Material must be memorized. Please bring your own sheet music in the correct key, no recorded accompaniment will be permitted; an accompanist will be provided. Please bring a picture and resume if available.
Upon arrival there will be a general meeting to fill out audition forms. All students will then learn and perform a short dance combination. The dance portion of the audition will last 30-45 minutes. Students will then have time to change, if they wish, and will present their songs and monologues individually by appointment.

Requirements for Theatre Performance: Applicants should prepare for presentations 2 contrasting monologues of 1 minute in length each. Please bring a resume and a headshot if available.
Requirements for Theatre Technical & Design: Applicants will participate in an interview with Design Faculty and may submit renderings, drawings, photos and/or slides of their work if available.
