NATATORIUM HOURS

When classes are in session, or during scheduled events, some areas will not be available at specific times during the day. Please refer to the signs posted by those areas.

• Monday - Friday:
  • 6:30 am - 8:30 am (lap swim) - This time not available during special hours.
  • 11:30 am - 1:30 pm (lap swim)
  • 4:00 pm - 8:00pm

• Saturday & Sunday:
  • 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

NATATORIUM RULES

The policies of the Heskett Center have been developed to keep the facility and equipment in good condition and to assure your safety while using the Heskett Center. If you have any questions or need assistance, please go to the Heskett Center Business Office.

Use of the Heskett Center is a privilege. Failure to comply to policies and directions of the staff governing participation, equipment and/or conduct may result in suspension from the Heskett Center or it's programs.

1. All General Facility rules apply.
2. The Emergency Alert System is one long whistle blast. All patrons must exit the pool immediately.
3. Swimmers will only be permitted to enter the natatorium (or use the patio) when there is a lifeguard on duty.
4. For your health and hygiene, only swim suits may be worn in the pool. No t-shirts, running shorts or cutoffs allowed. To cover the body for medical or religious reasons, please wear shirts or shorts constructed of swim suit material.
5. A complete head-to-toe shower is required before entering the pool.
6. Horseplay and exhibitions that could jeopardize personal safety are prohibited.
7. No street shoes allowed on deck.
8. Purposeful hyperventilation is prohibited. (underwater for longer thjan 30 seconds or 25m)
9. No running on deck.
10. Persons with open sores or contagious infections, such as poison ivy, athletes foot, impetigo and ringworm, are not permitted in the pool (please see a lifeguard if you have questions). Band-aids are not allowed in the pool. If the wound is open enough to require a band-aid, please do not swim.
11. Children 7 years and under must be accompanied by a parent. Children 8 years and older (at least 48 tall) may enter the pool without parents if they can pass a swim test administered by a lifeguard. Parents must stay in the Heskett Center.
12. Parents must be in the water and within arms reach of children who cannot swim. Infants and toddlers who are not potty trained must wear a swim suit over a swim diaper. Disposable diapers or heavy cloth diapers are not allowed.
13. Please check with the lifeguard if bringing in flotation devices for your child(ren).
14. Only individuals who can pass a swim test are allowed to use the diving well.
15. Diving is permitted only in the diving well. Back dives and somersaults from the edge of the diving well wall are not permitted.
16. Training equipment is not permitted in the diving well except for water exercise led by an instructor.
17. No spitting, spouting or nose blowing in the pool.
18. Anyone using the sun deck must take a shower before entering the water.
19. We are not responsible for any lost jewelry in the pool.
20. Please do not walk on the deck with fins.
21. Only lessons registered with the Heskett Center are permitted in the Natatorium.
22. Starting blocks are for the sole use of approved groups with a certified coach on deck.

General pool rules:

1. Full head to toe showers are required.
2. Remove all jewelry (exception: medical or religious, wedding/engaement rings).
3. Only swimwear may be worn (no t-shirts or cut offs).
4. Remove all food, gum, and candy before entering the pool. (Only drink allowed on the deck would be water in a plastic container.)
5. Horseplay, dunking, pushing are prohibited.
6. The lap lanes are off limits during a rental.
7. Diving is only allowed in the diving well not the recreational area.
8. Use of the diving well requires swimming skills. Also you must read the diving rules posted behind the diving area before using the pool.
9. Non-swimmers must be seated on bleachers or at the spectator's seating. We will not allow them to stand, or sit close to the edge of the pool.

 

Only the patrons who swim sufficiently should use the diving well. If lifeguard finds out that patron cannot satisfy this condition, the patron will be moved to the recreational area. Lifeguards will state this rule at the beginning of the rental.

Diving Board Usage rules:

1. One person on the board at a time (next person must wait on the floor).
2. Only one bounce on the board is allowed.
3. Go straight off the end of the board.
4. Running on the board is not allowed.
5. Immediately swim directly under the rope or the the nearest side of the pool.
6. Cartwheels, sitting on the edge, and handstands are prohibited.
7. Diving for distance is not allowed.
8. Goggles are not allowed when diving from the board (possible eye injury).

1. Please be aware that for safety purposes, lifeguards may clear the pool for a 10-minute break in the middle of the rental.
