CLIMBING WALL HOURS

The Heskett center climbing wall is available for structured activities and open recreation. The climbing wall will be shared during open recreation times. The Heskett center will post signs when the climbing wall is reserved for a special event.

• Monday - Friday: 6:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. 
• Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. 
• Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

CLIMBING WALL EQUIPMENT & RULES

The policies of the Heskett Center have been developed to keep the facility and equipment in good condition and to assure your safety while using the Heskett Center. If you have any questions or need assistance, please go to the Heskett Center Business Office.

Use of the Heskett Center is a privilege. Failure to comply to policies and directions of the staff governing participation, equipment and/or conduct may result in suspension from the Heskett Center or it's programs.

All General Facility Rules Apply!!

*A person can check-out a wall climbing equipment set when wanting to climb. This wall set will consist of: 2 harnesses, 1 rope, 2 locking carabiners, 1 tubular webbing strap, 1 eye bolt, and 1 Gri Gri.

*In order to reserve a wall climbing set, the user must show his current wall belay card. After this has been confirmed, the user must be prepared to give his/her valid WSU ID card to the equipment room checker who will swipe it through the magnetic strip reader.
 

Shoe Rules:

1. Wall climbing shoes can be rented for $2.00 per pair for a limit of three hours.
2. There is a $10.00 late fee for each pair of shoes.
3. Users can climb with their own shoes, but they must be constructed with a non-marking substance.

Chalk:

Chalk cannot be borrowed from the Equipment Room but can be purchased at the Business Office. Only white chalk balls are allowed to be used in the Heskett Center.

 

Other Climbing Wall Information:

1. Guests can earn a Belay card to climb the wall but must be accompanied by a Heskett Center member at all times.
2. Belay class cost:
   Belay Card $15 for members (valid for one year)
   Renewed belay card costs $15 for members
   Contact the business office for dates and times of the class.
3. Individuals with belay cards are allowed to use only certain restricted equipment which is privately owned to climb the wall, such as: harnesses, chalk bags, and shoes. All other equipment must be from the Heskett Center.
4. No outside memberships are being sold for use of the climbing wall.
