Freshmen Live on Campus

Benefits

Statistics prove that students who live on campus are more successful in college and are more likely to stay in school and complete their degree. One example of Wichita State's commitment to students and to student success is our requirement for incoming freshmen to live in Fairmount Towers or Brennan Hall for their first two semesters.

Exceptions

Exceptions are made for freshmen who are 21 or older; married; living with a parent, legal guardian, grandparent, aunt or uncle in the Greater Sedgwick County Area*; taking fewer than 12 credit hours; or living in official Greek housing.

*Greater Sedgwick County Area includes includes all of Sedgwick County and Andover, Augusta, Belle Plain, Benton, Douglass, Mulvane, Newton, North Newton, Potwin, Rose Hill, Sedgwick, Towanda and Whitewater.

All freshmen who do not plan to live on campus–including those who fall into one of the above categories–are required to complete and submit a Freshman Exemption Form. The student will receive a reply via email from Housing and Residence Life.
