1) How do I become an agent for Wichita State University?
To become one of our agents, please read our Terms of Service at:
http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=INTERNATIONAL&p=/Agency/. If you are still interested in becoming one of our agents after reading our terms of service, you must click on the button on the above webpage that says "Request Agency Packet" and complete the online form.
2) Do you pay commissions? Will you waive the application fees for my agency?
Unfortunately, Wichita State University cannot pay commissions, referral fees, or advertising fees. In addition, we cannot waive the US$50 application fee. The application fee must be sent with the student's application materials and cannot be paid at a later date (such as after the student obtains a visa). There are no exceptions to this policy. Because we cannot pay commissions, we recommend that you charge the student directly for your services.
The only fee that we can waive is the US$100 tuition deposit for Intensive English applications. If you send an Intensive English application to us, you may keep the US$100 tuition deposit to defer your expenses. When the student arrives, we will subtract the US$100 from the student's Intensive English tuition as though the money were paid directly to us.
3) Will you authorize me to become a sole (exclusive) agent in my country?
No. We cannot authorize any agent to be our sole representative in any country or city. To better serve our students, we prefer to associate with a wide selection of agents.
4) Are the students who apply through my agency guaranteed of getting admission to Wichita State?
No. Although we hope to give agents the best service possible, we cannot guarantee that an application that you send to us will be accepted.
5) If I email you (or fax you) my student's transcript, can you let me know if they might be accepted to Wichita State? Can you tell me if my student might be accepted before he applies?
No. There are many factors that Wichita State University takes into consideration when a student applies for admission. For this reason, we cannot determine if a student will be accepted or rejected based upon information you provide in email messages or faxes. The only way to know if a student might be accepted is to have the student formally apply for admission and submit all required application materials.
6) I need some more brochures and applications. How can I get more?
To request additional brochures or applications, please complete the form at:
http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=international&p=/ReqAp Be sure to let us know what you would like in the "Comments, Special Requests, or Suggestions" field.
7) Since I am an agent, is there anything special I must include with applications that I send to you?
To better serve you, it is very important that we know which applications you send to us. With each application you send to us, please include a cover letter that contains your 1) complete mailing address, 2) email address, and 3) telephone number(s). All Undergraduate and Intensive English applicants have a section for agents to complete.
8) Will I-20's be sent to me by airmail or express mail?
Undergraduate and Intensive English Applications: All I-20s will be sent to your agency by Fed Ex (free of charge). Neither you nor the student will be required to pay the US$50 express mail fee. If the student applies for both Intensive English and graduate admission, the student should not pay the US$60 express mail fee for the Graduate School. We will send the Intensive English admission letter and graduate I-20 together in the same evelope by express mail for free.
Graduate Applications: The Graduate School offers an express mail service for US$60. All I-20s for graduate applicants will be sent by airmail unless the US$60 express mail fee has been paid.
9) How long will it take to process my student's application?
Undergraduate and Intensive English Applications: Undergraduate applications normally take about one week to process but may take longer during peak application times. We cannot consider a student for admission until we have received all required application materials including the US$50 application fee and all official transcripts. If we do not receive all required application materials with the student's application for admission, there will be a delay in processing the application until we receive all needed application materials.
Graduate Applications: Graduate applications must be reviewed by both the Graduate School and the department to which the student is applying. For this reason, graduate applications take longer to process. Graduate applications normally take several weeks to process and cannot be expedited. The Graduate School must receive all required application materials at one time or there will be a considerable delay in the processing of the student's application.
10) Have you received the application I sent to you? Have you received the application fee I sent to you? Have you received the transcripts I sent to you? Will you email me when you receive something from me?
Undergraduate Applications: Our computer system will automatically send you an email message when the student's application (or any supporting documents) arrives and we have entered the application on our computer system. We will then send you another email message when we have reviewed the student's file (normally, about one week later). Please be sure to write the student's email address AND your email address on the student's application. Also, please include a cover letter so that we know the application is coming from your agency.
Graduate Applications: The Graduate School does not use an automated email service to notify students or agents when an application has been received. They will email you after they have reviewed the student's file, which can be several weeks after it arrives. Please include a cover letter (including your email address) with all applications you send to us.
11) Do you offer conditional admission for students who have not taken the TOEFL or IELTS? Do students have to have a TOEFL/IELTS score before they apply? What is the English requirement? Do you accept IELTS results?
Undergraduate Applications: Students are not required to present a TOEFL score when they apply for admission. If the student otherwise meets our requirement for admission, we will issue an I-20 (for the student's academic major) to the student to apply for a visa. For details on our TOEFL and IELTS requirements, please visit: http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=INTLUGADM&p=/Toefl/. We cannot accept score reports sent to us from the student or from our agents. All TOEFL scores must be sent to Wichita State University directly from the TOEFL Office (Institution Code 6884) or the IELTS Testing Center.
Graduate Applications: Graduate applicants may apply for admission without presenting a TOEFL or IELTS score. We cannot accept score reports sent to us from the student or from our agents. All TOEFL scores must be sent to Wichita State University directly from the TOEFL Office. Our Institution Code is 6884. All IELTS scores must be sent to the Graduate School directly from the IELTS Testing Center. Please note: The Graduate School will not issue an I-20 to the student until:
1) The student applies to the Intensive English Language Center.
OR
2) The student obtains the required TOEFL/IELTS score by our published deadline.
If the student qualifies for graduate admission and has applied to the Intensive English Language Center, the Graduate School will issue an I-20 for the student's academic major.
IMPORTANT: Although the student may submit TOEFL/IELTS results at a later date, that does not mean that the student may submit GRE or GMAT scores at a later date. If the student is required to take the GRE or GMAT for admission, the student must submit those scores before a determination of admissibility can be made. Not all departments require the GRE or GMAT. Please see Item #12 below for GRE/GMAT information.
12) What are the requirements to apply for admission? Do students need letters of recommendation? Is the SAT or ACT required to apply? Is the GRE or GMAT required to apply? What do agents need to do when submitting an application?
General Information: All applications from agents should be submitted with a cover letter so that we know that the application is coming from your agency. It is VERY important that you include your email address in the cover letter so that we can email you if we have any questions about the student's application. VERY IMPORANT: If you would like the student's admission documents to be sent to your agency, please include your agency's address in the "Mailing Address" field on the application for admission. In the "Permanent Address" field, please be sure to write the student's permanent home address -- not your agency's address. We are required by U.S. law to have the student's permanent home address when the student applies for admission. If you write your agency's address in the "Permanent Address" field, there will be a delay in processing the student's application until we get the correct address.
Undergraduate Applications: Please complete the "Agent" section of the application for admission. Letters of recommendation are not required to apply. SAT or ACT results are not required to apply. However, freshmen applicants have the option to submit SAT or ACT results. For full details, please visit our International Admission Requirements. For a complete list of the items that are required to apply for undergraduate admission, please visit: http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=INTLUGADM&p=/HowtoApp/
Intensive English Applications: Please complete the "Agent" section of the application for admsision. For details on what is required to apply to Intensive English, please visit: http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=INTLIEADM&p=/HowtoApp/
Graduate Applications: Graduate applicants must satisfy the application requirements for BOTH the Graduate School and the department to which the student is applying. For details on what is required to apply to the Graduate School, please click here. For details on the items required by the student's department (such as GRE/GMAT requirements, GPA requirements, letters of recommendation, etc), please click here.
13) Are my students required to submit a bank statement with their application?
No. Students do not need to submit a bank statement in order to apply for admission. However, the US Embassy will need to see a bank statement when the student applies for a visa. Instead of submitting a bank statement, all students are required to complete our Certification of Financial Support that is part of our application for admission. To view our Certification of Financial Support, please visit:

15) One of my students has a 3-year bachelor's degree from my country. Can he get admission to your Graduate School?
The Graduate School will consider some students for admission who have graduated with a 3-year degree.
To be considered for admission with a 3-year degree, students must possess a Bologna-compliant degree or a degree from India.
For 3-year degrees from India, the institution from which the applicant graduated must be accredited at the highest level (A grade -- 85-90% minimum) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India.
When the student applies for admission, Wichita State University will automatically check to see if the school meets that accreditation requirement.
For this reason, the student does not need to provide proof of this accreditation when he submits his application for admission.
If the institution does not have at least an A grade, the student’s application will be automatically rejected since the Graduate School will not consider the student to have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
NOTE:
Before the student applies for admission, the Graduate School will not make a pre-determination about whether or not the student has a qualified degree for admission.
The only way to know if the student’s degree might qualify is to have the student formally apply for admission to the Graduate School and submit all required application materials.
If the student is not accepted for a graduate program, the student has two options:
1) Complete a master's degree in their country then apply to the Wichita State University Graduate School.
OR
2) Complete a bachelor's degree at Wichita State University. Even though the student may have completed 3-years in their country, it may take two years or longer to complete a bachelor's degree at Wichita State University (due to the differences in our educational systems). 17) What are the deadlines to apply? Is there still time to apply for the next intake? Can we apply after the deadline? Can my students get an exception to apply late?
All application materials must arrive by our published deadlines. We cannot guarantee that applications that arrive after our published deadlines will be processed for the student's desired semester of admission. If it is near our deadline, we recommend that you send the application to us by express mail. If the application arrives late and we cannot process the application for the student's desired term, we will automatically process the application for the next available term. We do not accept any score reports that are sent to us by the student or agent. To be official, the student's transcripts must be original documents or photocopies stamped as certified-true copies by school officials at the institution attended or by educational authorities (such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Ministry of Education).
