Civic Engagement Council

Expectation

         Student Involvement is seeking engaged and highly motivated students to serve as charter member of the Civic Engagement Council for the 2013/2014 Academic Year. These students will work with professionals in a volunteer capacity in the development of many new programs and initiatives to satisfy student needs. The Civic Engagement Council seeks to unite individuals in creating collective actions, which will address issues of public concern through service opportunities and active citizenship in the community.

            Student Involvement is committed to students by intentionally creating co-curricular experiences that complement the academic mission by providing opportunities which engage and develop students resulting in a vibrant campus culture that enhances their journey as a Shocker!

Civic Engagement Council Job Description

  • Plan and manage activities and programs which increase civic engagement efforts for WSU students, staff and faculty. Example Service in the City, Shocker Helping Hands and numerous donation drives.
  • Organize resources and serves as an umbrella for Community Service efforts hosted by student organizations.
  • Serve as a resource for Student Involvement and students, exemplifying a broad knowledge of campus culture, programs, policies and procedures.
  • Support new campus initiatives to include; Campus Read Initiative, Alternative Spring Break, Alternative Fall Break
  • Assist in marketing of programs and recruiting students for different initiative across several functional areas.
  • Track and assessment of community service hours and programs across campus.

Requirements

·         2.5 Cumulative GPA

·         Minimum of 10hrs per week
