Our Mission is...

To increase the number of students, with foster children as priority, graduating from high school and are prepared for enrollment in post-secondary education thereby, enabling children to reach their full potential and consequently improving educational and social outcomes.

Program Overview

Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP is a U.S. Department of Education funded program with Wichita State University as the administrator of this program. Children in foster care are given top priority for services, while limited income and children in adoptive care also qualify for this program.

Objectives

1. Provide baseline data on youth in the State foster care system who enroll in the Kansas Kids @  GEAR UP activities.

2. Examine the impacts of participation in Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP activities on student educational expectations and preparation for college.

3. Identify Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP project strategies, models, and practices that are most effective for youth in foster care in Kansas.
