State Tax Workshop
As a small business owner, you know you need to pay taxes. But where do you start? What do you really need to do? Experts from the Kansas Department of Revenue will give you the basics in this workshop. Topics covered will include sales tax, withholding tax, and record keeping. You will be shown what forms you need to file and how to fill them out.

State Tax Workshop for Contractors
Do you provide plumbing, carpentry, electrical, roofing, heating/air conditioning, or related services? This workshop is devoted exclusively to sales tax issues for contractors, subcontractors and repairmen. Learn how sales tax applies to materials and labor, Project Exemption Certificates, sales tax returns, billing, and related issues.

Is the 8(a) Program Right for You?
The 8(a)/BD Program is a nine year certification program for socially and economically disadvantaged companies with some benefits in the Federal Contracting arena. In addition to development support, Federal Agencies are able to set-aside certain contracts for 8(a) certified companies on either a sole source or competitive level. This presentation will provide a general overview of processes, requirements and benefits.

Federal Contracting and Woman-Owned Small Business Set-Asides
The Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract program expands federal contracting opportunities to WOSBs. The program authorizes contracting officers to set aside certain federal contracts for eligible WOSBs. Teri Taylor with the SBA will familiarize you with the program definitions, processes and requirements necessary to participate in the federal marketplace as a WOSB program prime contractor.

Patent and Trademark Workshop
Nan Myers, Associate Professor Emeritus and Intellectual Special Projects Librarian at WSU Libraries, will cover patent and trademark considerations for small businesses. Topics include provisional patents, changes in the American Invents Act, and federal vs. state trademarks. She will provide training in initial search strategies for patents, wordmarks, and logos.

Reading and Responding to a Proposal
This workshop has three components. First it will focus on how to read a Request for Proposal, to make sure you understand what is needed. The second part of the presentation moves to information that is ordinarily asked for in a proposal, that you can easily have available in files. The final portion of the workshop then deals with how to write your proposal toward the requirements of the request.
