Beginner Level Awards

BEGINNER Awards (3 Awards): 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies will be awarded for the highest total points accumulated on the three Apprentice Missions, Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship. In order to be considered for these awards, each team must score points on all three Apprentice Missions and complete the Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship. Click on the Missions and Challenges links to the left to see rubrics and individual mission information for scoring criteria. (team size=5-10)

Intermediate Level Awards

INTERMEDIATE Awards (3 Awards): 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies will be awarded for the highest total points accumulated on three Professional Missions, Presentation, Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship. In order to be considered for these awards, each team must score points on three Professional Missions and complete the Presentation, Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship. (Teams may run all Professional Missions, but only the scores from the best three courses will count towards the total score.) Winning teams are invited to display their robots at the WSU College of Engineering Open House on April 30, 2010. (team size=8-15)

Expert Level Awards

EXPERT Awards (3 Awards): 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies will be awarded for the highest total points accumulated on five Professional Missions, Presentation, Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship. In order to be considered for these awards, each team must score points on five Professional Missions and complete the Presentation, Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship. Individual Mission Awards

One award is given to the "best team" at each of the Missions. These awards are not based on points alone. Individual Mission Awards are Judges' Choice awards. Judges will be looking for teamwork, creativity, consideration of others, respect for rules, and other criteria as determined by each judge.

Spirit and Sportsmanship Award (3 awards)

One award is given at each level, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, to the team earning the most points within that level. Points from Spirit and Sportsmanship apply toward the overall awards in each level.

Table Display and Notebook Award (3 awards)

One award is given at each level, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, to the team earning the most points within that level. Points from Table Display and Notebook apply toward the overall awards in each level. High scoring Table Display and Notebook is invited to present their display at the WSU College of Engineering Open House on April 30, 2010.

Presentation Award (2 awards)

One award is given at each level, Intermediate and Expert, for the team earning the most points within that level. Points from the Presentation apply toward the overall awards in each level.

MOC (My Own Creation) Awards (3 awards)

The winners of the MOC award are determined by popular vote. Anyone attending the MINDSTORMS Challenge is eligible to vote. One MOC Award is given for each category:

  • Freestyle MOC Builder must be over 15 years old (yes adults can enter).
  • Freestyle MOC Builder must be between the ages of 10 to 15.
  • Freestyle MOC Builder must be under 10 years old (yes, your little brother or sister can enter).

Robot Zoo Award (1 award)

The winner of the Robot Zoo award is determined by popular vote. Anyone attending the MINDSTORMS Challenge is eligible to vote for their favorite zoo creation.

 

All Missions, Presentation, Table Display and Notebook, and Spirit and Sportsmanship Challenges are judged by industry professionals and representatives from the Colleges of Education and Engineering.
