What are the qualifications for participating in MSEP?

UNDERGRADUATE - To qualify for MSEP as a freshman, students must:

  • Have an ACT score of 21 or higher or an SAT of 990 or higher.
  • Complete the pre-college curriculum prescribed by the Board of Regents with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale. (Pre-college curriculum includes four units of English and math and three units of social science and natural science)
  • Enroll as a full-time student at Wichita State University in an MSEP-eligible degree bound major.
  • Be a legal resident of Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Indiana, Illinois or Wisconsin.

To qualify for MSEP as a transfer with fewer than 24 credit hours, students must:

  • Meet all of the criteria that apply to freshmen.
  • Have a 2.50 cumulative GPA on all college transfer credits.

To qualify for MSEP as a transfer with 24 credit hours or more, students must:.

  • Have a 2.50 cumulative GPA on all college transfer credits.
  • Enroll as a full-time student at Wichita State University in an MSEP-eligible degree bound major. 

To continue in the MSEP program, undergraduate students must:

  • Maintain full-time enrollment and make satisfactory progress toward their approved degree.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.
     

GRADUATE - To qualify for MSEP in a graduate program, students must:

  • Be fully admitted to the MSEP-eligible graduate program of choice (see admissions requirements online at wichita.edu/gradprograms).
  • Enroll full time in an MSEP-eligible graduate major (Note that graduate students who hold a Teaching, Research, or Staff graduate assistantship of 16 hours or more per week are not eligible for the MSEP tuition reduction.)
  • Be a legal resident in one of the states listed above.

To continue in the MSEP graudate program, students must:

  • Maintain full time graduate enrollment
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Earn sufficient credits each semester to make satisfactory progress towards the approved degree.
