The Multicultural Student Mentoring Program is an administrative academic support program targeted toward underrepresented freshmen and new transfer students. Our goal is to foster academic success through academic support services, interpersonal relationships, and educational and social programming, as well as through collaborative University support systems.
Freshmen and new transfer students are successfully matched with a peer mentor to help them in their transition to WSU. When excellent students mentor and motivate new students, students experience high levels of success, academically, socially, and culturally.
Mentoring : Minority freshmen and new transfer students are matched with a peer mentor who assist with familiarizing students with Wichita State's campus, student life, and involvement.
Tutoring : MSMP participants are provided with a FREE tutor to assist them with academic success.
Training : Monthly training for mentors include: Time Management, Effective Communication, Conflict Resolution, Team Building, Study Skills, etc.
Laptop Checkout : MSMP participants can check out laptops from the Office of Multicutural Affairs for FREE!
Facilities : Computer Lab, TV Lounge Area, and "A Home Away from Home" environment.
