The Wichita State University Kodaly Program started with a single workshop entitled A Taste of Kodaly,  in 2004. Jo Kirk was the presenter at that three-day workshop where she inspired over 50 teachers with her energetic view of Kodaly teaching.  Since that time, the program has grown to a three-level Certification Program supported by WSU, USD 259 and a PDAE Grant from the U.S. Department of Education (2008-2012).  Kirk Olson and Lisa Simmelink, both WSU music education alumni, introduced Wichita teachers to the Kodaly philosophy.
