Expertise: Geometric Analysis and Differential Topology; won 2009 D.K. Harrison Award for Best PhD Thesis while at University of Oregon; oublished articles in the journals Memoirs, Transactions and Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society as well as in the journal Geometry and Topology


I am originally from Ireland and have lived in and taught Mathematics in Ireland, Sweden, Germany and the United States. As well as teaching and researching Mathematics I love reading books on Science, History and Politics, running, biking, playing football (soccer to you Americans), occasionally drawing and painting, listening to The Clash and spending time with my wife. Note that the above activities are not mutually exclusive.
