After-Hours Building Access

The Physical Plant Housekeeping Department is responsible for securing all exterior doors on all buildings. At the present time most buildings close around 10:00 p.m. or as class schedules dictate.

Any requests for exterior doors to remain unlocked later than 10:00 p.m. must be requested through the University Reservations Department. The University Police Department unlocks exterior doors in the morning and the Physical Plant Department is responsible for all hallway lighting.

The Housekeeping Department also schedules a weekend custodian on duty for the purpose of unlocking classrooms in various buildings as requested by reservation through University Reservations. No University facilities will be unlocked after hours or on weekends by Physical Plant personnel unless they have a reservation issued by University Reservations in their hands (University Policy, 16.04).

The police department unlocks buildings according to the list received through the Reservations Office located in the Rhatigan Student Center (978-3475). A memo, delivered in advance of the day by mail, person or fax from a Dean will result in the building being unlocked. Reservations made through a department secretary or other WILL NOT result in the building being unlocked.

Students, Faculty or Staff that have a key to an interior door of any building will be allowed into that building. You will have to stop by the Police Department, sign in, and show identification. Officers WILL NOT unlock an interior door unless there is some type of emergency.
