"Our men's four did not step up to the challenge in their heat.  We had a Cox Box issue on the water and there were race strategy adjustements that needed to be made and we did not execute when we had to today.  It is unfortunate because a crew we had beaten earlier in the year went on to make the finals.  This is definitely a great opportunity which was missed and one which will hurt for some time to come.  A great lesson here to be learned is that you have to be able to put together a great race on demand.  We had the 11th fastest time of 48 crews but because of the speed of our heat is was not enough.  We had the speed and had shown it throughout the year.  We just did not get it done today.  At this high of a level, you cannot afford to have an average row.  We had an average row and got beat.  The women had a very tough draw and just did not have the speed to get past some very good quality women's teams.  We will see several of these teams at ACRA and will have another shot to show some improvement." - Head Coach Calvin Cupp

Due to the size of this regatta, only the the races Wichita State participated in are listed.

ACRA National Championship Regatta

“ We are excited to be a founding member of this organization, which I believe will play a major role in reshaping the face of American intercollegiate rowing. It a tremendous opportunity to compete for a true national championship. The location in Oklahoma City finally puts a true championship regatta within a reasonable distance for our program and fans. Not having to travel all the way across the country to compete for our championship will simplify our travel and allow us to be more competitive. Our team is looking forward to excellent competition and the chance to vie for the National Championship in what is practically our back yard.” - WSU Head Coach Calvin Cupp

"This is the toughest regatta in the country for collegiate men.  To compete at this level shows a big step for our program.  We had a good row and went about as fast as we can this year.  We will be faster next year.  The athletes who represented Shocker Rowing were part of an event that will help not only themselves but our program as we continue to strive to raise the competitive bar for our program.  Being truly nationally competitive is our long term goal and raising the level of our competition is an important way to help us achieve that goal.  I am very proud of the crew that we took to the IRA's." - Head Coach Calvin Cupp
