| WSU Rowing: HOW TO SUPPORT THE WSU ROWING TEAM |
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS: Don and Lee Wadsworth have generously pledged the seed money for starting the fund. In order to continue to increase the competitiveness of the WSU program we must be able to retain student athletes for longer periods of time. Many quality athletes are lost to us each year because of the financial burdens they must shoulder. Our success starts and ends with our athletes. We must be able to retain them for three to four years if we are going to retain our national standing. Any $ Amount.
SLIDES FOR THE ERGOMETERS: The rowing machines sit on these and slide back and forth as the athlete rows. They can be linked together. This set-up creates an "in the shell' feel and also provides an opportunity for the athletes to row together. vary important because of the amount of time the team spends indoors. Set of two costs $225.00. The team needs four sets.=$900.00
SPEED COACH GOLD: This measures speed and distance rowed. It is a great training tool for the team on the water. Head units are $249.00, complete units are $300.00. The team needs three complete units and eight head units.= $2,877.00
SWEEP OARS: These are the oars the team rows with in the sweep shells. Many of their oars are over eight years old. Oars are $230.00 each and they like to purchase in sets of ten. The team needs three sets. $6,900.00
RACING SHELL FOR THE VARISTY WOMEN: The team's top end women's shell is SEVEN to EIGHT years old. As the program increases the caliber of the athlete, so must the quality of the equipment. The Resolute is the standard elite shells are measured by at the top level. Four of the six Division I NCAA women's finalists raced in Resolute shells. We have located a great value on a 2001 lightweight Resolute for ONLY $14,000.00 and are raising funds for the purchase. This is a great deal and one that would be a shame to miss.
