Personal Advancement Courses

These courses are designed to assist WSU students in achieving academic and life skills.

LAS-I 100A, Adult Seminar. The Adult Seminar is designed for adults who have been out of any school setting for one or more years. The course provides opportunities for the adult student to gain information about career and educational planning, and to learn about other university resources.

LAS-I 102, Topics in Career Exploration. This course focuses on career exploration, educational planning and career trends.

CI 170, Introduction to Library Research. In this course students learn how to locate and retrieve information in both electronic and print formats and how to evaluate research on its scholarly merit.

101, Introduction to the University. Wichita State University student success courses introduce entering college students to strategies designed to enhance their academic success and personal growth. Taught by supportive and committed faculty, the courses provide students with academic skills, life competencies and knowledge of institutional policies and resources. These introductory courses are offered by every college within the university and contain information specific to that college. In addition, topics such as time management, library skills, and study skills are presented. In order to facilitate student interaction, each Introduction to the University course has, in addition to an instructor, a Peer Leader. This is a student who has successfully completed the course and can act as a resource for the students currently enrolled in the course.
