Wichita State University student success courses introduce entering college students to strategies designed to enhance their academic success and personal growth. In addition, because each college offers the student success course, students in that college become more familiar with the college and the resources provided by the college. Taught by supportive and committed faculty, the courses provide students with academic skills, life competencies and knowledge of institutional policies and resources.

ENGR 101, Introduction to Engineering

Throughout the semester students learn about the College of Engineering and its various departments and facilities. The students also participate in a team engineering project and learn library resources specific tot the field of engineering.

HP 101, Introduction to the College of Health Professions
(syllabus)
A representative of each department within the college meets with the class to make the students aware of the many opportunities that exist in the health care field and the requirements for entrance in to the professions. There is also an emphasis on study skills and life skills necessary for success in the college.

LAS 101, Introduction to the University
(syllabus)
Students receive grounding in the importance of the General Education Program both specifically and in a broader sense, in life long learning, and in transferable skills. Students are made aware of the multitude of academic/career/life directions they can pursue while attending the university.
Career exploration is also an important
component of the course.
