Wichita State University Cheer Squad Tryouts:

April 24th-25th, 2009

Eligibility Requirements to Tryout for
WSU’s Cheer Squad

1. Cheer Squad Application complete with 2 color pictures of yourself including headshot and full body length.
2. Letter of acceptance from Wichita State University’s Admissions Office (current students provide an official copy of your transcripts)
3. Completed Student Athlete Insurance Information Form
4. Physician’s physical release form dated within the last 12 months, and signed by a medical doctor
5. Walk-on Tryout Form
6. Front and Back copy of your primary insurance card

What to Wear at Tryouts
 

The following represents the required attire for WSU Cheer Squad tryouts. Note that these requirements are for safety reasons. Remember that part of your score in the finals will be based on your “Overall Image,” so be sure to look “game ready” (a combination of black, yellow, & white), neat, and classy!

Ladies

Men

• Athletic sports bra
• Athletic shorts
• Athletic shoes
• No jewelry or nail polish
• Hair should be pulled back out
  of your face
•You need to bring a 30- 45
  second dance of your own with
  music
•You will learn a cheer, sideline
  and the WSU fight song.
•You will also be judged on
  stunting and tumbling ability

• Plain T-Shirt
• Black Athletic Shorts
• Athletic Shoes
• No jewelry
•You will learn a cheer,
  sideline and the WSU
  fight song motions as
  well as be judged on 
  cheer and stunting ability.

Academic Requirements of WSU Cheer Squad Members

In order to qualify to be a Wichita State University cheerleader, you must be a full time WSU student. Undergraduates must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and Graduate students in at least 9 credit hours in both the fall and spring semesters for the academic year (2009-2010). In addition, you must maintain a minimum 2.3 grade point average (GPA).
