Professional Development Opportunities

WSU offers outstanding professional development opportunities for Unclassified Professionals through the Center for Management Development, University Computing and Telecommunications Services and Human Resources.  For current schedules and special enrollment information see the links below.  Some professional development opportunities are fee based but many departments will offer their employees full or partial reimbursement or tuition assistance for professional development.

University Computing and Telecommunications Services offers both online and in person training that can be customized to meet your specific needs.  For information on current training opportunities go to the faculty/staff tab in the myWSU portal.

Center for Management Development offers seminars to assist in personal and professional growth in such areas as supervision, management, leadership, communications skills and customer service.  CMD also offers certificates in supervision and human resource management.

Human Resources, Employee Relations and Training department takes very seriously the development, training and skills-enhancement of University employees and so provides a variety of training programs.  Some sessions are designed specifically for unclassified professionals, some for those employees who are in "lead" positions, and many training classes for any employee who may wish to enhance their skill and knowledge base on a variety of subjects.  Training videos are available also.  For information on current training opportunities go to the faculty/staff tab in the myWSU portal.

The Media Resources Center's Instructional Technology department provides workshops and consulting for faculty and staff on topics including Blackboard course development, lecture capture, interactive and online testing and assessment, iPads, eTexts, and more.

WSU Division of Continuing Education offers a wide range of courses covering everything from landscape design to basic computer skills at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex and University Westside Center.
