Enrollment Certification/Pay Rate Status

To be eligible for benefits, you must be pursuing an approved program of study. This generally means you must be seeking a certificate or following a degree plan.

When you submit a copy of your class schedule signed by your Academic Adviser (see request for degree audit), the WSU Office of Veterans Services will complete an Enrollment Certification and transmit it electronically to the VA Regional Office. Course start/end dates and credit hours are reported on this certification.

  • VA bases pay rate status (full-time, 3/4 time, 1/2 time, etc...) on the course load you are carrying at each point in the semester, not on the total number of hours completed during the semester.
  • For courses that are less than sixteen weeks long, VA converts the credit hours to what they call "equivalent" credit hours before determining status.

If you change your enrollment after you have had your enrollment certified for the semester by our office, you will need to submit a Recertification Form so that we can revise your Enrollment Certification with the VA Regional Office.  You may bring this form to our office in Jardine Hall Room 203, scan and email it to veterans.services@wichita.edu, or fax it to our office at (316) 978-3396.  Please contact our office at (316) 978-3027 or (316) 978-3547 if you have any questions about enrollment changes.
