Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board is responsible for reviewing research involving human subjects and enforcing the requirement of informed consent  to assure that the rights and welfare of subjects who participate in research conducted by WSU faculty, staff and students are protected and that the University is in compliance with federal requirements (Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 46).

As of October 30, 2011, all third party vendors, individuals that access WSU e-mail addresses or individuals that come to a WSU campus to administer research surveys, that involve WSU students or personnel, must submit an Institutional Review Board Application to assure compliance with federal policy for the  protection of human subjects.  All research proposal requests must be approved through IRB process before being authorized to survey WSU students or employees.
