Aging Studies Online Undergraduate Programs

Wichita State University offers fully online options for undergraduates in Aging Studies.

The Bachelor of Arts Field Major in Aging Studies

The Bachelor of Arts Field Major in Aging Studies (conferred through the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) allows you to build a program of study with a primary emphasis on Aging Studies. You’ll collaborate with an academic advisor to select courses that cater to your interests within a liberal-arts based education and provides pre-professional and career students greater flexibility in their academic progress.

Basic Structure:

  • 124 credit hour minimum
  • Foreign language required
  • 100 credit hours must be from LAS
  • Area of concentration: minimum 36 credit hours (12 credit hours must be courses 300 or above)
  • Aging Studies: 18 credit hours
  • Secondary LAS Department: 9 credit hours
  • Secondary Open Department: 9 credit hours

Bachelors Degree Completion – Emphasis in Aging Studies

Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) – Emphasis in Aging Studies (conferred through the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) is an interdisciplinary degree that prepares graduates for today’s employment market, especially for positions that require a broad background of knowledge.

Basic Structure

  • 124 credit hour minimum
  • No foreign language required
  • 94 credit hours must be from LAS
  • Area of concentration: minimum 33 credit hours
  • 12 credit hours must be courses 300 or above
  • Aging Studies: 15 – 21 credit hours
  • Secondary LAS Department: 6-9 credit hours
  • Secondary Open Department: 6-9 credit hours

Undergraduate Minor in Aging Studies

The Undergraduate Minor in Aging Studies consists of at least 15 hours from the recommended course linst. All students are required to complete AGE 100 Introduction to Gerontology as the foundational course for the minor.
