The Aging Studies program will give you the tools to make a difference for the older population in your current profession or prepares you to transition your career/area of interest to the aging service industry. The expertise gained is valuable for a range of professions (e.g. social work, senior living, senior services, nursing home administration, wellness, business, education, and clinical professionals).
The online Master of Arts in Aging Studies features 30 credit hours of coursework, which can be completed in just three semesters with one summer course. Students select from 3 concentration areas of study:
Social Science: Prepares students with a background in social work, psychology, sociology, or those interested in further study of the social sciences, to work directly with the older population in a variety of settings.
Public Health: Prepares students to work in the Public Health sector with areas of study in public health & aging, epidemiology, environmental health, statistics, and social/behavioral aspects of public health. Students will also earn the Graduate Certificate in Public Health, a nationally recognized certification, alongside their Master’s degree.
Administration: Prepares students to serve in administrative positions within senior living communities, senior services/programming, and health care organizations. Students pursuing this concentration are also eligible to complete the Administrator-In-Training (AIT) program which provides the practical experience required to become a licensed nursing home administrator.
