Advanced Standing Requirements

For degree-seeking students in the Barton School of Business, Advanced Standing is a prerequisite for all upper-division business courses. Upper-division courses are defined as 300-level or above.

Students must meet ALL of the following requirements to obtain Advance Standing:

  1. Complete Foundation Course Requirements
  2. Complete Advanced Standing Course Requirements (see list below)
  3. Complete the Advanced Standing Assessments
  4. Have a minimum overall and Wichita State University institutional GPA of 2.25
  5. Be a declared business major

Advanced Standing Course Requirements

  • * MATH 144 or 242 - Business Calculus or Calculus I (3-5 cr.hrs.)
  • ECON 231 - Introductory Business Statistics (3 cr.hrs)
  • ECON 232 - Statistical Software Applications for Business ( 1 cr.hr.)
  • * ECON 201 - Principles of Macroeconomics (3 cr.hrs)
  • * ECON 202 - Principles of Microeconomics (3 cr.hrs)
  • ** BADM 160 - Business Software (minimum grade C- for most majors) (3 cr.hrs)
  • ** ACCT 210 - Financial Accounting (3 cr.hrs)
  • ** ACCT 220 - Managerial Accounting (3 cr.hrs)

* May be used to meet general education requirements (ECON 201 and 202 will NOT count towards general education requirements for ECONOMICS majors).

** Certain Majors may require minimum grades, check your catalog for the pre-requisites for your required major courses.
