Executive MBA Program Design
Everything in this unique curriculum is designed to change the way you work and think -- a payoff that lasts a lifetime. The
Executive
MBA
curriculum includes insights into human behavior, operational and financial management, proven analytical tools, innovative marketing concepts, and the latest in competitive technology.
Each
Executive
MBA
cohort progresses in sequential fashion through the program. Classroom time is compressed and intense. However, the extensive professional experience of the participants and unique structure of the program allow a maximum amount of course material in an accelerated timetable. Students are expected to complete significant work outside the classroom; formal study group time is expected to facilitate this work.
Courses meet on the WichitaStateUniversity campus.
The Executive
MBA
program requires that participants commit to an extensive, 2-day orientation in September of 2010. Team building, leadership and communication skills, and social activities are planned for this time.
The
Executive
MBA
program is structured for an executive's schedule. By meeting all day on select Saturdays, the EMBA program allows you to focus on your job Monday through Friday and to focus on your future on Saturdays.
The
Executive
MBA
has a preplanned schedule of courses for your entire program. There are no surprises or scheduling inconveniences; no registration forms to fill out; no closed classes and no waiting in line. In short, no hassles. The focus is on you and your responsibilities.
A typical schedule for a Saturday:
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Course 1
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Lunch Break
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Course 2
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to students on class days. Guest speakers and EMBA alumni will occasionally be invited to the luncheons.
Executive MBA
Curriculum
Our curriculum has been redesigned for the cohort beginning the fall of 2010. The fundamentals--finance, accounting, operations, marketing, strategy, organizational behavior and economics--are still there. The curriculum capitalizes on WSU's strategic choice to remain small and it makes students think about what is necessary for good managment from the student's first week of class.
The new curriculum includes:
A new pre-EMBA set of on-line courses designed to prepare the incoming student
A program orientation that emphasizes teamwork, self-assessment, and effective communication and presentation skills
Improved course sequencing designed to challenge every student regardless of previous work and educational experience
Added seminars in business ethics, negotiation skills, corporate entrepreneurship, macroeconomics, business law, and executive leadership
A week-long global experience that will broaden every student's view of global management
A shorter time-frame of 20 months for completion
Executive
MBA
students complete (36) credit hours. No preparatory coursework, in business, is required to enter the EMBA program.
