“This was a good early season event where we got a number of things done on both sides, the men and women,” Assistant Coach Mark Lewis said. “It was a close event, which is nice, with a number of long trips coming up. We also were able to get some of our new players some experience that will help us down the road.”
The men weren’t the only ones who shined at the tournament. The Lady Shockers dominated their field by more than 1,300 pins.
Three women took home an All-Tournament Team honor for their work on the lanes. Senior Jazreel Tan (Singapore) led the women’s field with a 232.0 average for the tournament. Junior Allie Ijams (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished in second place with a 225.3 average. Freshman Dasha Kovalova (Moscow, Russia), averaged 219 for the tournament, taking home a third place finish.
The two-day tournament consisted of six team games and 20 Baker games. A total of 12 teams competed on the men’s side while six competed on the women’s.
