WICHITA, Kan. – The Shocker Bowling coaching staff has named the first exempt player to the 2014-2015 select team. Sydney Brummett, a soon-to-be senior from Fort Wayne, Ind., has earned a spot on the women’s Shocker Bowling team.
Brummett will sign a national letter of intent before her 8:00 p.m. Junior Gold practice session on Saturday, July 13th, 2013 at Bowl One in Detroit, Mich.
“Wichita is a school that has been close to my heart for quite some time. To be able to attend Wichita State is a dream come true. The bowling program as well as the school itself felt like home,” said Brummett. “There is no doubt in my mind that Wichita State University is the right fit for me.”
Brummett was named a Dexter High School All-American her freshman year of high school. She has also been the Junior Tournament Bowlers Association Player of the Year twice, as well as the Indiana Bowler of the Year twice.
“We have known Sydney since she attended some of our Brunswick Shocker Bowling Camps over the past few years. She has continued to grow into a great young talent. I'm excited this day has come, and we look forward to Sydney becoming a Shocker and working with her during her college career,” said Assistant Coach Mark Lewis.
The Shocker Bowling Program is happy to welcome Brummett to Wichita in the fall of 2014.
The Rhatigan Student Center has been the major financial and administrative supporter of the Wichita State University bowling program since 1959.
