About Mr. Slape:

Slape is responsible for leading Wal-Mart's international merger and acquisition activities, international real estate and construction activities, and global format development efforts.

He joined Wal-Mart in 1995. Since then, he has served in a variety of roles at the Bentonville, Ark., headquarters, as well as overseas in Argentina and South Korea.

Slape is from Wichita. He received his bachelor's in finance from WSU.

About The James P. Schwartz Memorial Lecture Series:

The James P. Schwartz Lecture Series was established in 1975 in honor of University of Wichita alum James P. Schwartz who served as vice president of finance of Pizza Hut Inc. before his untimely death in 1970. The series is dedicated to expanding horizons in business and has featured presentations from business leaders such as H. Lee Scott, president and CEO of WalMart Stores Inc. and Steve Reinemund, former CEO of PepsiCo.
