Alternative Spring Break at Wichita State

I've noticed several search hits for Alternative Spring Break on our web analytics lately and that excites me! One of the convictions I bring to CM@WSU is that we need to offer opportunites to serve, encounter others and share the love of Christ by doing rather than just talking.Habitat Build

Scroll down for a couple opportunities where we could partner with other campus ministries in the state and send 1 or 2 students on a trip.

As far as a Wichita State sponsored trip - the rebuilding of our ministry is still in the early stages and alternative spring break trips an be both expensive and ambitious - but there are options. One might be to spend time with Western Kansas Mexican American Ministries. Another might be Crossroads in the KC area.  We could work with United Way to do a number of locall service days back to back locally or going farther afield I've had some preliminary discussions with the campus ministers at Emporia State, KU and K-State about joining with their planned trips to a variety of places. Often those can cost several hundred, but offer a great group environment and some tourism along with worthwhile service.

So - I'd really like to hear from those searching - what are you interested in doing? What kind of budget would work for you? Please share your ideas and inspirations using the form below and we'll work on getting this great tradition started at WSU!'

2012 Alternative Spring Break Options - Partnerships with other Campus Ministries

Want to go to DC? Our freinds at Emporia State and Washburn are planning a trip to DC in the Spring. It will involve some mission, some sightseeing and some work with United Methodist boards. The cost for that trip is $500 per person.

Southwestern has a group traveling to the Heifer Ranch for a week of mission service. The cost is $375 per person and there are four spaces available.

Please let Christopher know if you would like more information and we'll get you in touch with the organizers!
