
The purpose of the entrepreneurship research forum is to foster and encourage dialogue in the areas of small, entrepreneurial, and family-owned business enterprises. The goal of the research forum is to bring together a group of faculty from across the Barton School of Business who have an interest in conducting research in the area of entrepreneurship and small businesses. Research includes a broad spectrum of interests that ultimately will yield significant research overlap and facilitate a coordinated research agenda related to entrepreneurship for the purpose of reputation building in the academic research community.

Dr. Gaylen Chandler Dr. Chandler is Professor of Entrepreneurship, W. Frank Barton Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurship. He received his Ph.D. (1990) from the University of Utah. During his academic career he has received numerous awards for his teaching and research. Dr. Chandler is an active member of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management. He is a member of the editorial board of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and a former member of the editorial board for the Journal of Business Venturing. He has served as an ad hoc reviewer for several top tier management journals. His research interests include opportunity recognition processes, the role of ongoing learning in new venture development, and new venture teams. His articles have appeared in journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing, the Journal of Management, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. |

Dr. Timothy M. Craft
Professor Craft is Associate Professor of Finance and the W. Frank Barton Faculty Fellow in Finance. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001. Dr. Craft's research interests include start-up funding methods including angel funds, venture capital, and initial public offerings for high growth firms. His research has been published in the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, Real Estate Economics, and Journal of Portfolio Management. |

Steven M. Farmer
Professor Farmer is Associate Professor of Management and W. Frank Barton Distinguished Chair in Business. He earned his PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1993. Dr. Farmer's research interests include individual creativity and innovativeness, cross cultural concepts of creativity, and comparative cultural concepts of entrepreneurship. His research has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Decision Sciences, Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, and Personnel Psychology. |

Dr. Gergana (Gery) Markova Professor Markova is Assistant Professor of Human Resources and earned her PhD in Human Resource Management from the University of Central Florida in 2006. Dr. Markova's research interests include the differences and similarities in human resource management practices between small and large firms. |

Dr. Rick LeCompte Professor LeCompte is Associate Professor of Finance, and H. Dene Heskett Chair in Finance. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin with emphasis in Financial Institutions and Investments; undergraduate and masters degrees in Economics from the University Arkansas at Fayetteville. His research interests and expertise are in commercial bank management, cost efficiency, mergers and acquisitions, personal financial planning and public policy issues concerning financial institutions and markets. His published research appears in the top journals in his field such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Journal of Banking and Finance, among others. |

Dr. Timothy L. Pett Dr. Pett is Associate Professor of Strategic Management, Hayes Company Faculty Fellow, and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. He earned his PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Memphis in 1997. Dr. Pett's research interests include small firm performance, innovation, new product development, and international entrepreneurship. His research has appeared in the Journal of Small Business Management and International Journal of Management and Decision Making. |

Dr. Atul Rai
Dr. Atul Rai is an Associate Professor and Jones Corporate Governance Faculty Fellow in the School of Accountancy, Barton School of Business, at Wichita State University. He obtained his doctorate degree from New York University's Stern School of Business, with specialization in accounting and finance, where he was Coopers and Lybrand Doctoral Fellow. He holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, and an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the world-renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur. Prior to completing his doctorate, he worked for leading companies in construction and mining industry in India for several years. His research has been published in such journals as Journal of Accounting and Economics, Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, CFA Digest, Journal of Accounting Education, Accounting & Finance, Investment Management and Financial Innovations, and Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives. |

Dr. James A. Wolff
Professor Wolff is Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Kincaid Faculty Fellow. He earned his PhD in Strategic Management from Washington State University in 1995. Dr. Wolff's research interests include small business performance and growth, corporate entrepreneurship, innovation, and international entrepreneurship. His research has been published in Strategic Management Journal, Managerial Decision Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, International Journal of Management and Decision Making, and Journal of Small Business Strategy. |

Dr. Kirk Ring
Kirk Ring is an instructor of Strategic Management and will earn his PhD in strategy with an emphasis in family business and entrepreneurship from Mississippi State University in the fall of 2008. During his doctoral work he was a 2007 Family Owned Business Institute Research Scholar for Grand Valley State University. Mr. Ring's research interests include stakeholder relationships and performance assessment of family firms and the development of rural and community entrepreneurship. His research has recently been published in Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and the College Student Journal. |

Dr. Masud Chand Dr. Masud Chand is an Assistant Professor of International Business in the Department of Management. He earned his PhD in International Business from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada in 2009. Dr. Chand’s research interests include the role of diasporas in facilitating international trade and investment, ethnic entrepreneurship, international human resource management and cross-cultural management. His work has recently been published or accepted for publication at International Business Review, Advances in International Management, Asia Pacific Business Review and Thunderbird International Business Review. |
