What is the Early Admission Option?
The Early Admission Options guarantees eligible students a place in our nursing program, contingent upon fulfilling certain requirements. Admission to nursing education programs is extremely competitive across the country. Students who choose to begin their college career at Wichita State University are given an excellent opportunity to apply for early admission into the WSU School of Nursing. Thirty students are selected for participation in this program upon enrollment at Wichita State University.

What is the difference between regular admission and early admission?
The baccalaureate nursing program at Wichita State University is a two-year program for juniors and seniors. In order to be considered for admission, students in their sophomore year apply for admission to the program when they are nearing completion of their prerequisite hours. After submitting their application material, selected students complete an interview, and the top candidates are accepted into the program. Entrance into the program is competitive, and unfortunately not every qualified student can be accepted.

As an Early Admission student, you are guaranteed admission into the program contingent upon fulfilling certain requirements. This guarantee may be given as early as your senior year in high school, and is given as a benefit to Wichita State University students. Although you will still complete application materials for the nursing program, you are excused from the interview process.

What makes the Early Admission Option special?
Besides the early guarantee of acceptance into the nursing program, Early Admission students enjoy the benefits of WSU resources and College of Health Professions student organizations. These organizations include Future Health Care Professionals and Kansas Association of Nursing Students. Early Admission students are assigned a designated advisor, who assists them in achieving their educational goals.

Who may apply to the Early Admission Option?
High school seniors and first-semester WSU college freshmen are invited to apply. Applicants must be fully admitted to WSU. They must also be ready to start college-level coursework, which can be demonstrated by scoring 20 or above on the ACT math and English sections. Applicants must be able to complete the required number of prerequisite hours at Wichita State University (students may only take 12 credits of prerequisite coursework at an institution other than WSU).

How do I apply to the Early Admission Option?
After being admitted to Wichita State University, contact the School of Nursing at(800)516-0290 for application and deadline information. Space is limited! Applications are accepted from qualified students on a first-come, first-served basis.
