Admissions

Students examining shoulderAdmission to the program is competitive and is based on evaluation of all information and applications forms required to apply. Any applicant who has completed entry-level physical therapy education regardless of degree or location of the program, will NOT be considered for admission to the entry-level DPT program at WSU.

*Important note: The Physical Therapy Department at WSU is participating in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) for the 2009-10 admissions cycle. Applicants for the 2013 entering class (beginning classes in the summer 2010) can apply online using the PTCAS Web application, beginning on July 15, 2009. Admission Requirements:
  1. Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Minimum grade requirements: 3.0 GPA in the last 60 semester credit hours; 3.0 GPA in math/science prerequisite courses; and a 3.0 overall prerequisite GPA.
  3. Prerequisite courses: ALL prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the spring semester prior to beginning summer courses in the PT curriculum.       • Math/Sciences: Biology (1 semester with lab); Human Anatomy & Physiology (minimum of 5 credit hours with lab); Chemistry (2 semesters with lab); Physics (2 semesters with lab); College Trigonometry or equivalent; Statistics (1 semester); Exercise Physiology.
      • Basic Skills: English Composition/Literature (2 semesters); Speech (1 semester); Computer proficiency; Medical Terminology
      • Social Sciences: Psychology; one introductory course and one advanced course.
  4. Evidence of computer proficiency for word processing, spreadsheets, and using the Internet. Complete a signed form included in theapplication packet.
  5. Physical therapy clinical observation of 20 hours in one or more physical therapy departments.
  6. Graduate Record Examination with a composite score of 900 for quantitative and verbal sections.
