Undergraduate Scholarships  

The College of Education will award over $600,000 in academic scholarships to its students this year.  Incoming, current and non-traditional students receive these scholarships.  

The College of Education is currently taking applications from high school seniors for the Klose Scholarship Essay Competition. Please click on the link above for all the information and the application.

  • Criteria
    Criteria differ for each scholarship. Students' qualifications are matched to the appropriate scholarships for final selection of awards.
  • Application
    In order to be considered for College of Education scholarships, go to the link listed below. Only one application is necessary to apply for all scholarships available to students in the College of Education.
  • Priority Deadline 
    Priority dates for submitting an application are Aug. 1 to Feb. 1.

     
  • How to Apply
    1. Incoming Freshman and Transfer Students
      • College of Education Undergraduate/Graduate Scholarship.  This will take you to the electronic application.
      • This application includes a one-page, single-spaced personal statement highlighting academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community service and work experience.  Include special interests, short and long range goals and how a scholarship will assist you in achieving academic success.   
    2. Current Students
      • Login to WSU account
      • Click on Blackboard
      • Find COE Scholarship organization in your list of blackboard course.
         
        If you do not find COE Scholarships in your list of blackboard courses, please email your name and WSU ID to coed.scholarships@wichita.edu and request that you be enrolled in the scholarship organization.

Financial Aid Office - Wichita State University:  
Beginning Fall 2014, high school seniors who are fully admitted to WSU as degree bound students, will automatically be considered for Freshman Merit Scholarships on a "funds available" basis, with information contained in their admission application.  A separate scholarship application is not required.  Awarding begins in October and continues on a monthly awarding cycle as long as funds remain.  It is important to be admitted early to be considered for maximum awards.

Ways to improve your scholarship options:

Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. This may improve your chances for need-based scholarships.

 

  • Research scholarship options using various venues, including online and through your university or local library
  • Complete all scholarship applications accurately and thoroughly
  • Proofread any required essays for correct grammar and syntax
  • Meet all required deadlines
  • Promptly return acknowledgements of award packages with all requested information.
