URBAN TEACHER PREPARATION PROGRAM

The Urban Teacher Preparation Program (UTPP) is an exciting collaboration between Wichita State University and the Wichita Public Schools. Those selected for this program receive financial support for Wichita State University tuition from the Wichita Public Schools in the form of a forgivable loan. Candidates are required, in addition to doing coursework, to commit 10 hours per week to working in one of the UTPP schools. Graduates are committed to teach in the Wichita Public Schools for four years after the completion of their degree.

Elementary candidates were selected to complete their final semesters in the education program at Wichita State University through UTPP in the Fall 2008 semester. Secondary candidates will be starting the program in the Fall 2009. Applications will be accepted for secondary candidates through August 1st. Those applicants must be eligible to graduate by either Fall 2010 or Spring 2011.
