This intensive workshop will address the contemporary issues in diabetes control and risk reduction.


OBJECTIVES:
1. Synthesize the classifications of diabetes mellitus for clinical use.
2. Integrate new technologies available to diabetes management.
3. Incorporate clinical management strategies for advanced practice.
4. Describe adaptive behavior skills as an adjunct to current clinical management.
5. Incorporate concepts of dietary management in nutritional strategies.
6. Describe the complications of diabetes and methods to reduce risks.
7. Supplement your study for certification.


Continuing Education Credit:


The American Association of Diabetes Educators is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides a maximum of 28 contact hours (2.80 CEU's) of continuing education credit. The American Association of Diabetes Educators, (AM001) is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered DTRs), will receive 28 continuing professional education units (CPEUs) for completion of this program. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.


This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the American Association of Diabetes Educators, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.


The Wichita State University College of Health Professions is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 30 contact hours, applicable for RN, LPH, or LMHT re-licensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider #LT 0090-0327.


Accommodations:

A block of sleeping rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn, 2041 N. Bradley Fair Parkway at a special rate of $149 (plus tax) per night. Please contact the hotel directly at (316) 219-4444 for reservations at least two weeks prior to the workshop dates. Transportation will be provided from Hilton Garden Inn to Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex.


Cancellations:

A15% administration fee will be charged on all cancellations. In the event of the Diabetes Education Update Workshop being canceled due to fire, strikes, government regulations, acts of God, or other causes beyond their control, the Diabetes Education Update organizers shall not be held liable for failure to hold the Diabetes Education Update semi-annual Workshop as scheduled, and the Diabetes Education Update organizers shall determine the amount of registration fees to be refunded.
